So from what I can gather, the series takes place in some city basically controlled by this corporation, Yggdrasil. The youth, to vent their frustrations, street dance. But not just solo. STREET DANCE GANGS. Yggdrasil produces "Lock Seeds", that supposedly summon little monsters from a parallel dimension. Some kids buy these Lock Seeds and basically use them to PLAY POKEMON FOR REALZ. But there's a catch...! Opening dimensional rifts to play pokemon apparently lets real monsters through. Hence what our Kamen Riders will be fighting. The two main Riders, Gaim/Gaimu and Baron are each members of RIVAL STREET DANCE GANGS.

BUT IT GETS EVEN BETTER. It's being written by GEN UROBUCHI (of Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Fate/Zero fame).

You psyched, Cam? 8DDDDDDDD

On the green one? >_> Just more samurai digs. He's no ninja turtle XD

He has a honeycomb gun. Does that make his "fruit"... honey, though? >_>;;; Gaim is an orange and Baron (the red one) is bannana-riffic. One on the far left seems to be coconut and far right (Kamen Rider Zangetsu btw >_> ) looks like maybe lime.

I forgot if you had watched some of Gargantia from my pokings, Cam. Urobuchi wrote that and it's generally more "upbeat" >_> At least compared to his other work.

And if you're curious, Ryuta Tasaki is returning as the director. He most recently directed Akibaranger and was the main director on Rider from Kiva through OOO, in addition to a lot of Rider/Sentai prior to that.

I don't know what you're talking about >_> I'm psyched 8D

Though I will preface that part of it is simply because they're changing things up. The past 5 years have basically just copy-pasted the same formula, so it's gotten a bit stale (in principle, that is, each individual series has certainly done its own thing). But I definitely am happy that they're taking a major left-turn again.

<_<;;; And really excited that Urobuchi's writing it. Gaim will carry Urobutcher to Psycho-Pass Season 2 o 3o

...and speaking of which, Cam, they didn't really hold "auditions" for Gaim, but rather the producers just went out and hand-picked actors based on Urobuchi's characters. Sounds like they're giving him more leeway/control than the writer normally gets 8DD

This may be the first Kamen Rider series that I actually watch because seriously, I have to see this shit. This is like if Hideaki Anno decided to tackle the Dragon Ball franchise and that he was going to drink the entire time he did it. And then the designs came out and the Saiyans actually looked like different breeds of monkey or something.

We also have "Sid, the Lock Dealer" who sells Gaia Memories er D-Mods er Lock Seeds to the kiddies to facilitate their pokemon battles. It's a mystery where Sid gets these Lock Seeds. Maybe from the Yggdrasil Corporation >_>

But if the suits are getting you street youths down, never fear! There's one mysterious charismatic figure that you can trust! Pirate radio DJ Sagara! 8D

It Begins 8D

-If you live in a planned city that's a mega-corporation's "blueprint for a better life", where the only outlet for youth is POKEMON TRAINING STREET DANCER GANGS, then I think that qualifies as dystopian.

-Not marking utilitarianism yet, but I have a feeling it's coming between Baron's "survival of the fittest" mentality and the Yggdrasil Corporation lording over everything. (But for that matter, I'm expecting most things on the bingo card to eventually be marked off >_> )

-Though I think we're probably safe in assuming Rape and Severed Heads won't be making an appearance in Gaim. Unless Urobutcher gets severed monster heads in there. I'm not gonna rule out alcohol... it popped up on occasion in W, didn't it? And of course Gokaiger's Jetman episode. Lesbians are a long shot only because female characters never matter >_>; Though you'll never know what Urobuchi will stick into the background, especially since it seems like he has complete control over characters.

-Not gonna count Gaim's totally-not-the-Ixacalibur sidearm as gunservice.

How did you not count Kaito as "Anti-Villain"? He's a dark broody asshole that saves the kinder that tries to take away people's right to DANCE.

And how the hell are the Inves not abominations? Especially after seeing what one does when it eats the Lock Seed that summoned it?

Also, dude. Come on. That chick in white literally told him using the belt meant he was going to fuck up his life. That sounds pretty Faustian, or does it only count once we see the actual downside?

To be an "Anti-Villain" requires a noble cause. We're not sure what Kaito's goal is here yet. And he may well turn out to be more of an Anti-Hero.

I'll show a pic of the transformed Inves to Graham and let him make the call about Abominations >_>;

And good point. Went back and re-watched that scene, since I only glanced through the subbed version after watching ep1 raw. I'd say it counts as a Faustian Bargain. Which means we almost had a bingo after only the first ep <_<

Okay, after consulting with Graham (and also remembering that the Inves consume the Lockseed through a fucking teethy mouth that appears from its forehead X_X ), yeah, they qualify as Abominations. So here's the updated Ep 1-2 card.

Update time! 8D

Welcome aboard Madness, Early Deaths, and DARK TWIST.

Corruption is a possibility. We'll see what happens to people who've come down with the Vine Sickness stuff >_> But we're now a simple Betrayal away from a Bingo!
