Today, I walked onto campus around 8:30 AM or so (the usual time for Tuesdays), and headed to the study hall to start studying. Grabbing a Cherry Pepsi from one of the vending machines, I sat myself down at one of the tables, pulled out my laptop, and promptly spilled the drink all over my pants. Panicking, I ran to the bathroom and dried myself off.

...only to return to said table to find my laptop ($700) and my cellphone ($50) stolen with no suspects in sight.

Fuck my life, fuck college, and fuck the world and its inhabitants >_>

Don't expect me to be active with posting or anything of the sort for a few days at least, maybe months at a time tops.

EDIT: Dunno if you have the feature enabled or if enabling it now would do anything, but if Jess or Cam can, then could you get me an IP address on my previous posts? I want to see if it's not possible to have the campus IT crew to track if the comp gets on the net on campus. Longshot, but I'm pawing at whatever comes my way.

An admin could certainly give you your IP address, but, that would.... Well, the IP address probably wouldn't do you much good, but if you can somehow get your MAC address, that might help. And I guess if you have an IP address and a date/time, it's possible that the campus IT guys could get your MAC address.

Problem is if your school's network is wireless, they'll be able to tell you if said machine is connected, but not where.

What you probably want to do if you haven't already: Report both stolen to the police. And actually, it's possible you'll have better luck if you try and focus on your cellphone, if it's being used by Mr. Thief.

But yeah, this is why I never left my laptop alone in a public area. X_X; My friend had her power cord stolen while we were on break in the middle of a CLASS... Still don't know how that even happened... I got paranoid after that myself.

Can't say I was ever worried about the cellphone. It's a pre-paid and it was crap at the time. >_>;

But the Mac. X_X; Loan paid for that.

He is right though, report it to both the authorities as well as Campus Tech and; if you have it; Security. The more people that are aware, the better the chance of getting them back you'll have.
