'''Yoshino Shugotenshi''' is the younger of the Yoshino twins by a mere five minutes, and refers to Suki as 'Neesan'; he is usually called 'Tenshi' in response. He is a Knight in the Order of Stability, a [[Daitenshi_Kishi|Charity Team]] Motorcycle Racer, and a [[Cyan University]] student. 
 
He is also the civilian identity of Cyan's own "Shadow Samurai", the vigilante know as [[The Rider]]. 
== Background ==
Born in Magenta, Mirai, he and his twin sister, Shurensuki, moved to Cyan City at the age of five and a half. Knowing a man named [[Yoshino Koji]] as their father from birth, it was ''his'' job that brought them to Cyan. Despite quickly becoming friends with both the Mishima Family and the Nagisa Family, Shugo was the one who grew more distant from his friends as he grew up, though it didn't really become clear how different the twins were until they were twelve years old.

At twelve, the twins were involved in an accident on the highway leading out of Cyan. Yoshino Koji was nearly killed and ended up in a coma, but the two children were miraculously thrown clear of the car, with only minor injuries. It was at this time the two of them gained their [[Glossary#Wish|Contracts]], and thus, their [[Glossary#Enhancement|Enhancements]]. Shugo's personality shifted noticeably to shut ''everyone'' else out of his personal life and feelings, for a time including his family. It should be noted that he still hasn't fully recovered his emotional stability, despite being in University now.

On Missions, he was always distant and could come off as cold and calculating. Though, ever since his near-death in [[Agito_Soma|Agito Soma's]] [[Dark Evolution]], his personality has shifted again, and on the tail end of his recovery period, he exhibited signs of a [[Splinter_Personality|second personality]]. That personality eventually introduced himself as "[[Anubis]]" and has surfaced frequently enough to be known of by his close friends. Anubis was also the one who initiated the Contract with Mittens the Wormmon, and for a time, put a great strain on Shugotenshi's LoE and his body. Anubis took it upon himself to correct the problem and managed to stifle the trouble, though at the cost of distinctly separating Mittens and Auren's LoE Points within Shugotenshi himself.

===Family Matters===
;Mother and Sister
: Despite pushing away, he still feels very close to his mother and sister, although he still feels it's his responsibility and duty to protect them ''despite'' Yoshino Koji's removal from the equation.

;Father
: Somewhere between [[Mishima_Dagashin|Dagrus]] and [[Nagisa_Akurei|Akurei's]] Dark Evolutions, he figured out his connection to Yumeno Shuuichou, and confirmed his thoughts with his mother... and ultimately Yumeno himself. Though pushed away at first, his determination and stubbornness led to the man taking a definitive interest him. So much so, that after his incident while investigating [[Tenchoukyuri Academy]] in Magenta, he was introduced to the [[Hansel_and_Gretel_Blübeck|Drs. Blübeck]] after they gave a lecture at Cyan University; striking a deal with them and Shuuichou to keep Suki and his mother uninvolved in these affairs. When the [[Chosen Children]] gathered with their ''own'' children, Shugotenshi was the only one to accompany his father to the meeting, and learned more than he expected about not only his own father, but his friends' parents as well.

;Grandfather
: Despite Yoshino Hamato being Koji's father, the old Shinto Priest in Shimizu, Japan has always considered Hikari, Shurensuki, and Shugotenshi his family. Shugo also considers him his grandfather and is his only living grandparent that he's aware of anyway. He respects the old man and follows his teachings from when he was little in his own way as best he can; these teachings formed his Moral and Ethical Values he holds onto desperately. Despite not having seen the old man for a number of years, he was very grateful that his partners chose to take him to Hamato instead of any other option.

===Factional Stance===
Shugotenshi, even before officially joining The Order, has shown neutral tendencies, and refused to take a specific side in the conflict. With his best friends in completely different factions, it's still very important to him to remain neutral... though the fact that they all seem to be getting along with one another has helped ease some of his worries about being a part of Stability.

He has successfully worked together with Daedalus on a mission, as well as the Crowns, being granted both of their tech for the duration of said missions. He has since incorporated them into his armor as The Rider.

===Exposure to Dark LoE===
He remained outside to battle the Dark Evolutions when he went to help Dagrus and Akurei, and wasn't around except to pick up Suki from Celia's... however, he did enter Soma's Inner World, and was used as a human shield by [[Albert Pendragon]] during the final fight. Despite leaving him for dead once no longer 'necessary', he was still infected with a Dead Number at that time.

During the investigation at Tenchoukyuri, Shugotenshi was exposed to concentrated Dark LoE for an extended period of time, and lost control of himself, silenced his mental connection to Anubis, and ultimately injured himself on equipment once used on [[Morino Alma]]. Remnants of her pure LoE remained on the tool that injured his left arm, and created a faint LoE Link to her.

While investigating the Crypt of Shan-Yu with his partners and Nyarlathmon, Shugotenshi was exposed to Dark LoE almost longer than his trip to Tenchoukyuri, but with less hallucinations and loss of control as it was a lower concentration in general, but it was constantly around throughout the entire exploration.

During the mission to retrieve Alma from the Shai-Hulud, he had a resonance with a Dark Evolution and a burst of Dark LoE that caused him a fair amount of discomfort, but disappeared mysteriously.

During a mission to Luminous Island, his emotions got the better of him as well as the Aura of Regret from a large amount of the Digimentals used to form a creature they fought. Nearly losing complete control, Auren's [[Glossary#Phone|Final Charge]] helped bring him back to his senses enough to be terrified and fled to Shadowveil once he'd realized what had happened.

== Digital Enhancement ==
While he has a very high level of control over his Primary Enhancement; ''Celerity''; Shugotenshi is still working on trying to be able to ignite and control his ''Phantom Flames'' on his own.

Anubis, on the other hand, seems to have a very fine control over both Enhancements as well as a greater ability of [[Light_of_Evolution|LoE]] Manipulation.

He has been shown to be able to control vehicles moving at speeds he has the ability to run at. His reaction times and general movement speed are increased by about 50%.

:: Shugotenshi now has the capability to accelerate faster than the speed of sound, but must maintain a higher level of concentration on his body. If using his LoE to support himself, the increased level of concentration is not as necessary.

While this was the result of ''Anubis'' Contracting Mittens, Shugo has been able to access the Enhancement whenever he showed a strong emotional reaction. It is currently unknown if Anubis has access to Advance or not as he showed no difficulty in using Shugotenshi's [[Evolution#Tools|Circuit]] to evolve Mittens to [[Evolution#Natural|Perfect]].
