Faction Overview
A pseudo-PMC (private military company) owned and operated by Circuits Infinity's CEO, Fleur de Croix, the Crowns exist to protect and defend the Analog World from Digital threats or potential threats, by any means necessary. They were originally founded as part of Fleur's personal quest to locate her lost fiancé, Serge Duscant, but have since expanded their mission and reach, utilizing both Circuits Infinity's resources and the de Croix fortune to acquire cutting-edge technology and hire expert personnel.
The CEO herself is their ultimate leader, but relies on a council of other like-minded individuals, the Divine Crowns, to carry out her will. In Europe, she leaves the administration of Crown forces to her adopted son, Emil de Croix.
Crowns have a specialized uniform, the Crown Visor, which is heavily customized by each Crown, and are based on super sentai/tokusatsu uniforms; one of Fleur's primary influences in organizing the Crowns was her ardent childhood love of the various super sentai shows and tokusatsu incarnations, and she all but enforces this influence even today in the Crown ranks.
The Crowns are the pre-eminent Digital World faction in Europe, centered in France (Fleur and Serge's presumed birthplace), but extending throughout the entirety of Europe and into parts of Western Russia. They also dominate Australia and the Motherboard Continent that mirrors it in the Digital World.
Base of Operations
Mirai
The Crowns' base of operations in the Mirai Archipelago is Circuits Infinity's corporate headquarters, Duscant Tower, the largest skyscraper in the Archipelago and amongst the largest buildings on Earth; their base is largely situated underneath the Tower proper, however, due to the covert nature of the Digital World and the affairs thereof. It is unknown precisely how far down the Crowns' base extends, although it is known that the prototype Gate of Worlds is situated at its lowest level, and it does not extend for miles.
de Croix also maintains a Crown presence at her manor.
Europe
The Crowns' base of operations in Europe is Circuits Infinity's European corporate headquarters, the Palisade Complex.
Australia
The Crowns' base of operations in Australia is Circuits Infinity's Australian corporate headquarters, ____. (“Crown Oz”)
Views on Other Factions
Freelancers
Formerly (in Season 1) the Freelancers were regarded with mutual antagonism by the Crowns, and generally seen as threats/a major nuisance; with the emergence of other factions, particularly the Daedalus Initiative, and the departure of Divine Crown Dragon, the antagonism between the two groups has cooled, to the point where they are quite capable of working together. However, for the Crowns' part, they still do not regard the Freelancers as equals or really worthy of an overt amount of respect; they are stupid, disorganized children who show some promise, but misapprehend the correct course of action. The defection of the former Divine Crown Lion also weighs heavily on the Crowns' minds.
Daedalus Initiative
The relationship between the Initiative and the Crowns could be accurately described as a ceasefire or armistice; the two factions have been involved in hostilities against each other since learning of each other's existence, and while the atmosphere had cooled between the two, the shift in Daedalus' activity post-Second Crash, along with their diametrically opposed goals and their mutual levels of capability, make their continued clashing certain. For their part, however, the Crowns tend to regard Daedalus as enemies to be respected and feared on a healthy level.
Order of Stability
The Crown position on the youngest of what they consider the major factions is tenuous appraisal from a distance; they don't quite know what to make of Stability, though they certainly seem capable. Fleur de Croix, for her part, knows Kasumi McDougal rather well, and they are on somewhat friendly terms.
